Stuck vs. Still: Biblical Encouragement for Maximizing your Mindset

Good day, Purposeful Hearts! For many of us, the pace of life, the endless presence of troubles and trials, and the sensory overload of a media-driven world can make us feel trapped in our own existence – like running on the proverbial hamster wheel. Burnout creeps closer. Exhaustion sets in. And even though we’re constantly moving, we feel stuck. If we’re not careful, Satan will use this state of mind to build a web of resentment and even rebellion.

This blog series calls us to reframe being “stuck in the world” into being “still in the Lord”. When we’re firmly rooted in His love, His Word, and His will, we find an ever-present source of true renewal that allows us to face each day with gratitude and grace – no matter what’s on the schedule.

Who can relate to feeling like this?

I'm guessing all of us can! Let's try again. Who can relate to feeling like this?

I’m hoping all of us can still relate on some level! After all, you’re here taking a break from your everyday routine to receive encouragement for your life in this blog post. You’re taking the time to be still.

How can we exist as both of these things? Hi, I’m Stacy, chief of sinners and child of God. I’m a fully certified sinner-saint. By the way, so are you. We’re really going to wrestle today with the tension and dynamics at work inside of us every day as we confront this battle between sinner and saint, stuck versus still. Being the certified sinner-saint that I am, I have an insider secret for you: we need help.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll take a deeper dive into the connection between our sinner-saint identity and our mental fluctuations between stuck and still. We’ll look more closely at our theme Bible passage for this blog series, Colossians 2:6-7: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

My prayer for you this week is that you ponder these verses and reflect on your current mindset toward your vocation and life position. Blessings on your week!
