Now that you’re aware of your true identity as a child of God and you view the words “Do not worry” as part of your personal mission on this earth, it’s time to take a deeper look into the purpose you’ve been given for this earthly life.
You are an ambassador.
You are an ambassador of God’s love and what it looks like to trust his leadership over your life. You are a mouthpiece of God’s love, both in word and action. What an amazing calling! Satan would love nothing more than for your worries to block your voice, to silence the message, and to let your actions speak of fear, doubt, stress, and mistrust.
But God’s message must be more powerful than your worry, or your people (your sphere of influence, your mission field) will miss it! When I was in late grade school, I remember my nerves getting the best of me before I had to sing a solo during a church service. My mom pulled me aside and said, “Stacy Elizabeth (yes, it was a both-names moment), look at the words in this song. Look at the people sitting in the pews who need to hear these words. If you hold back, they miss the message.” In other words, I was being selfish. I was turning up the volume on my own fear and worry about the uncertainty and risk of singing in front of an audience, and Satan wanted to use that fear to shut me (and those song lyrics) down.
In this crazy wandering world, God’s message of truth, redemption, forgiveness, and new identity must be more important and more powerful than the message God’s given you to share. There are people out there who need to hear what you have to say and see the way you live.
Do not worry. Do not be afraid. Do not let fear and uncertainty win over your purpose. Stand in your identity as a child of God. Embrace your mission to live, speak, and act purposefully within your social circle. And let God use you as his instrument – unafraid, unworried, and holding the hand of your Heavenly Father as he says to you, “Trust me.”
